Simple Steps To NDIS Registration and Renewal

This guide will help you register as or renew an NDIS provider. This guide will outline the five steps required to apply for registration/renewal as an NDIS provider according to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission).

All states and territories must register/renew with the NDIS Commission.

These are the steps for renewal and registration

Are you unsure which registration group to choose? Are you still curious about how it all works? You might find our support categories, registration groups, and support professions look-up tool useful.

Complete the application form to register or renew as an NDIS provider.

Registration of a new provider

You can access the online application form on the NDIS Commission's Applications Portal website.

These details are required for the application. It is therefore important that you have them available:

  • Your organization's contact details
  • Key personnel
  • Corporate structure
  • Service profile
  • Service areas
  • Register groups for which you would like to apply
  • Your organization provides support and services.

This information will allow you to determine which modules or parts of NDIS Practice Standards apply to your organization. Below is more information about the standards.

After completing this section of the form, you can conduct a self-assessment of your knowledge against the NDIS Practice Standards. You can also upload any documents you submit as evidence to the self-assessment of meeting the NDIS Practice Standards.

Existing provider renewals

Existing providers will need a login to the NDIS Commission Portal and then go to the "My Registration" tab.

These details are required for the application. It is therefore important that you have them available:

  • Your Registration ID
  • your organization's contact details
  • Your corporate structure
  • Your outlets/places for operation
  • Your key personnel

What are the requirements?

You must comply with the NDIS Practice Standards to register or renew your NDIS provider status under the NDIS Commission requirements.

When deciding on your application for registration, the NDIS Commission will consider whether your organization is qualified to provide NDIS services and support.

The NDIS Code of Conduct considers both the conduct of workers and providers when it supports people who access their services.

These are important inputs that the NDIS Commission considers when approving a new NDIS registration or renewing an existing one. The proportionality of registration requirements is important. This means that a smaller provider with fewer participants and workers is not expected present the same evidence as an established national provider with many participants and a large workforce.

Do I have to register?

NDIS participants with plans managed by the NDIA must have providers registered to provide services and support. Registered NDIS providers must also be registered if they provide specialist accommodation for disabled people, restrictive practices, or create behaviour support plans.

Some providers might not want to register, but they cannot access participants who have been Plan Managed or Self managed.
